Overview
Direction Events is a Corvid feature that tracks the movement direction of vehicles through monitored areas. It powers parking enforcement workflows, site occupancy tracking, and entry/exit counting — all derived from your existing LPR camera infrastructure.
What Direction Events Enables
Entry/Exit detection — Know when a vehicle enters or exits a specific zone. Corvid determines direction based on the sequence of camera detections.
Site occupancy — Track how many vehicles are currently inside a site by counting net entries minus exits.
Parking enforcement — Identify vehicles that have overstayed a time limit by correlating entry time with the current time. Generate enforcement actions or alerts for violations.
How It Works
Cameras are designated as entry cameras or exit cameras for a site.
When a plate is detected on an entry camera, Corvid records an entry event for that vehicle at that site.
When the same plate is detected on an exit camera, Corvid records an exit and calculates dwell time.
If no exit is detected within a configured time window, the vehicle is flagged as a potential violator.
Viewing Direction Events
Use the Reports section to view occupancy summaries and dwell time analysis for a site.
Setup
Direction Events requires camera configuration by your Corvid administrator or integration team. Contact support to configure entry/exit camera designations and time-limit enforcement rules for your sites.
