Uniview cameras don't have a single, standalone "Human Detection" toggle. Instead, human detection is applied as an object filter inside the camera's Smart/Intelligent detection rules. This article walks through enabling it via the camera's web interface.
Where to find it
Log in to the camera's web interface.
Go to Setup > Intelligent.
Open the Smart tab.
You'll see several detection categories:

Human detection isn't its own rule — it's a target filter you apply inside one of the Perimeter Protection rules (most commonly Intrusion).
Recommended rule: Intrusion
For general "detect any person in view" behavior, Intrusion is usually the most practical choice, since the detection zone can be drawn to cover the entire camera frame (functioning like general human-presence detection), rather than being limited to a single line or entry/exit point like Cross Line, Enter Area, or Leave Area.
Steps
Check the box next to Intrusion to enable the rule.
Click the gear icon ⚙️ next to Intrusion to open its settings.
Inside the rule configuration, you'll typically find:
Detection Area — draw/resize the zone you want monitored (draw it over the full frame for general presence detection).
Target Filter / Object Type — checkboxes for Human, Motor Vehicle, and Non-Motor Vehicle.
Sensitivity — adjust to reduce false triggers (start around 75 and tune based on playback review).
Arming Schedule — set when the rule is active (e.g., 24/7 or specific hours).
Trigger Actions — configure recording, alarm output, snapshots, and/or notifications.
Enable Human in the Target Filter so the rule only fires on people, not animals, headlights, moving branches, etc.
Save the configuration.
Testing
After saving:
Walk through the camera's field of view.
Confirm the rule triggers on people but not on other movement.
Review recorded/playback footage and adjust sensitivity or the detection zone if there are false positives or missed detections.
Notes
Available detection types and menu layout can vary by camera model and firmware version — not all features are supported on every model.
Some cameras offer a simplified Ultra Motion Detection (UMD) mode under motion settings instead of (or alongside) Intrusion/SIP rules, with the same Human/Vehicle object filtering but fewer configuration steps.
If configuring through an NVR rather than directly on the camera, look for the equivalent settings under Setup > Alarm, and choose whether analysis runs camera-side or NVR-side.
