Overview
Corvid lets you format a camera's onboard SD card directly from the dashboard. This clears all existing recordings on the card and reinitializes it for fresh storage — useful when a card becomes full, corrupted, or needs to be wiped before decommissioning a camera.
How to format an SD card
Go to the Cameras view and open the camera you want to manage.
Navigate to the SD Cards tab.
Locate the SD card you want to format and click Format.
Confirm the action when prompted.
Corvid sends the format command to the camera. The card status updates to reflect the operation as the camera responds.
Status indicators
Pending — The format request has been sent and is waiting for the camera to begin.
Formatting — The camera is actively wiping and reinitializing the card.
Success — The format completed. The card is ready for new recordings.
Error — The format failed. Check camera connectivity and try again.
Notes
Formatting is irreversible — all recordings stored on the SD card will be permanently deleted.
The Format action is only available when the camera is online and the SD card is detected.
This action requires admin or device management permissions for the camera.
