How to manage custom Search Log Reasons in Corvid

Admins can create, edit, and delete the custom reasons available when users perform LPR plate searches — controlling the list that appears in pickers and search filters.

Overview
Organization admins can create, edit, and delete the LPR search reasons that users see when performing plate lookups. Custom reasons appear in search reason pickers across LPR Search, the Audit Log, and Plate History, and are available as filter options. System-defined reasons (such as Suspect Vehicle, Missing Person, and Stolen Auto) remain read-only.

Where to find it

Go to LPR → Search Log Reasons in the main navigation. This section is only visible to users with admin access.

Create a new search reason

  1. On the Search Log Reasons page, click Add Reason.

  2. Enter a name for the reason.

  3. Click Save.

The new reason is immediately available in all search reason pickers for your organization.

Edit an existing reason

  1. Locate the reason in the list and click the edit icon.

  2. Update the name and click Save.

Delete a reason

  1. Locate the reason in the list and click the delete icon.

  2. Confirm the deletion.

Deleted reasons are removed from pickers going forward. Existing search log entries that referenced the deleted reason retain their recorded value.

Notes

  • System reasons are read-only and cannot be edited or deleted.

  • Only active reasons appear in pickers. Inactive or deleted reasons do not surface to users.

  • Search Log Reasons works alongside the Require Search Reason setting in Manage Organization → Settings → LPR Settings. See How to require a search reason for LPR plate lookups.
