Overview
Search now lets you filter motion events by video status — so you can focus on events that have playable footage or identify events whose video has expired. This saves time when investigating incidents by surfacing only the events you can actually review.
Using the video availability filter
Open Search from the left navigation and run a search that returns motion events.
In the filter panel, locate the Video filter group.
Select one of the available options:
Video Available — shows only events with playable footage.
Video Expired — shows only events whose footage has passed the retention window.
The event list updates instantly to match the selected filter.
The expired video overlay
When you open a motion event whose footage has expired, the player shows an Expired state instead of a playback button. This gives you a clear signal that footage existed for this event but is no longer retained — distinct from events that never had footage at all.
Notes
Video availability is determined by your organization's configured retention window. Footage outside that window is marked as expired.
The Video filter applies to motion events only. LPR and other event types are not affected.
